The neighborhood of Palolo is one of last of the more affordable neighborhoods in Honolulu, Oahu. Palolo Valley is an older neighborhood like many of the surrounding neighborhoods. The first homes were built here in the 1920s, but the vast majority of homes were built in the 1940s and 1950s. There are newer homes as well. The lot sizes generally are 4000 square feet to 7000 square feet although there are small lot sizes as well as larger ones. Most homes will not have anything but a mountain view. Being in a valley is not likely to have an ocean view. On the sides of the valley, you may have some homes that have city and some ocean views. In the back of the valley, especially on Lai Road, the homes are in the rainforest.

There are very few condominiums in the Palolo Valley. Palolo Gardens is one of the only ones. The rest of the neighborhood is nearly al single-family homes.
