The Ala Moana Hotel condo in Honolulu is an old favorite for many locals. You are walking distance to Ala Moana Beach Park and adjacent to Ala Moana Center and its 300+ shops and restaurants. There is no reason to rent a car while staying here. The best part is that if it is just a second home, while you are not using it, it can generate income in the hotel pool. The hotel is in great demand especially in light of its many meeting rooms, banquet services and its close proximity to the Hawaii Convention Center. With its condo conversion less than 10 years ago, the building has received a much-needed facelift. The vast majority of units are still used for hotel use and most are managed by Outrigger a growing player in hotel management in the Pacific Rim region. The look is contemporary and the remodeled amenities offer a high level of comfort. But it is the location that many people love.
Anaha epitomizes luxury condominium living, completed in October 2017, and stands as the second building completed in the upscale Ward Village area, following the construction of the Waiea tower.
The development encompasses two distinct structures:
The central tower comprises eight units on each floor, offering a variety of one, two, and three-bedroom configurations. With ceiling heights extending to 9ft (and 10ft for the penthouse floors), the building exudes a sense of spaciousness. A distinct architectural element is its unique curving facets that alternate every four floors, bringing about slight variations in the interior dimensions and layout of units within the same stack. The tower is serviced by four elevators, with two situated at the front and the other two at the rear, enhancing accessibility. Additionally, residents have access to a service elevator and a trash chute located between the sets of elevators, contributing to a sense of privacy and reduced traffic.
The Podium extends from the second to the third floor, featuring two-story 'Townhomes' with the entry on the third floor, leading to the living area and bedrooms on the second floor. The fourth to sixth floors house a blend of studio, one, and two-bedroom residences. Atop this section lies a part of Anaha's amenity deck. Although there's a modest lobby and one elevator within the Podium, residents here can also access the elevators in the main tower. The ground level of the Podium is dedicated to commercial use, hosting an array of renowned restaurants and retail outlets in a captivating ambiance.
Additional Highlights: Amenity Deck: Nestled on the seventh floor, the expansive amenity deck exudes a luxurious and welcoming aura. Parking Facility: The parking area is integrated within the main tower, with designated spaces for residents spanning from the second to the sixth floor. Additionally, 19 guest stalls are available, managed via a valet service. Architectural Prowess: The aesthetic and functional design of Anaha is the brainchild of Chicago's Solomon Cordwell Buenz, in collaboration with Honolulu's Ben Woo Architects, blending architectural expertise and local insight.

Ala Moana being right next door has over 300 shops and restaurants and all of the activities and excitement in Waikiki. It is a few steps to the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor, the Hawaii Yacht Club, the Waikiki Yacht club, and Ala Moana Beach Park, The units are of generous size and many have enclosed the lanai for additional square footage.
One Waterfront Tower condominium building consists of two rather futuristic towers that rise out of the landscape next to downtown Honolulu. The entire One Waterfront development also encompasses the restaurant row development which includes restaurants, shopping, and commercial space. The towers are residential and sit just behind and across South Street. Because there is nothing currently to obstruct the views, the view out over the busy Honolulu Harbor is very interesting. You can also see from some of the units the reef runway at Honolulu International Airport off into the distance. On the other side, you can see out over Kakaako waterfront park and towards Diamond head. The view is active and interesting. The location is very good being close to two corridors that make it relatively easy to get around Honolulu (South Street and Ala Moana Blvd.). The Waihonua condo was completed in January 2015. The Waihonua condominium building is located in the popular neighborhood of Kakaako, it is half a block from Ala Moana and just a few blocks from the beach. The location is fantastic for busy lifestyles and people that want to be in the middle of the action. The building has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. Most of the 2 bedroom units have ocean views and the one bedrooms have mauka (mountain) views. With the exception of the Waihonua penthouse levels, the 3 bedroom unit wrap around on either side of the building, so they have windows on 3 sides. Views are towards the mountain, city and ocean. The least obstructed views are on higher floors and penthouse level.
The interior of the Waihonua units is clean and modern with floor to ceiling glass, wood woods, and carpeting. The kitchens have wood cabinetry and Bosch appliances. In the large units, the air-conditioning has multiple systems inside to save on energy costs. High ceilings make the spaces seem bigger and more open. Lanais are located on the odd numbered floors and seem to be more preferred.
The Waihonua amenities are exclusive of all of the items that are a requirement for condo living in Honolulu. The pool area is open and large, yet has different groups of lounging spaces for a more intimate feeling. There are traditional lounge chairs as well as sofas, chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas for comfort. Also, barbecue areas are close by for outdoor entertaining. The recreation room is large, modern and comfortable. This room is great for large indoor entertaining. Attached to the room is a spacious modern kitchen, perfect for large gatherings. Koolani condos for sale and building info
The Koolani is one of the newer luxury condo buildings in the “it” neighborhood of Honolulu, Kakaako. The Koolani was built in 2006, it has some special features and amenities that make it truly luxurious. Most of the units in the building have ocean views. The Koolani also has some of the nicest floor plans of any newer building in Honolulu. Most of the units have a foyer and the bedrooms are separated by the living room. Many units also have a pantry which is something not normally seen in condos under 1200 square feet. Most units still have the original appointments which include nice wood cabinetry, granite counter tops, Viking Appliances and special designer touches such as toilets imported from Italy. These nice touches make it stand out from most other Honolulu condominiums.
The Koolani building is adjacent to the Howard Hughes new redevelopment of their 60+ Acres of land, named Ward Village. The Koolani really stands to benefit from this because much more in the way or shopping and restaurants will be within walking distance of the building. On one side you have Howard Hughes’ Ward Village and less than a block away is Ala Moana Center which is undergoing it’s own redevelopment including the whole new Ewa Wing what just opened. It includes Oahu’s first Bloomingdale’s department store, and a brand new Food Land grocery store. Not quite two blocks away is a Whole Foods Market is planned. We are so excited to see these additions. With all of this, you may be surprised that it is still just a short walk to the beach. Ala Moana Beach Park starts less than two blocks away. It is no wonder so many people have been excited about the Koolani.
While the lower floors may have an obstructed view because of the Ossipoff designed IBM Building, and some of the view may be obstructed by the Hokua which sits off to the side, but slightly in front of the Koolani, the higher floors can have beautiful ocean views. The Ko’olani units facing the mountains are cooler during the day. The amenities are amazing. It is truly a luxury Honolulu condo to come home to. From Billards to tennis courts, from a putting green to a business center, the Koolani has it all. It also has the Island Club and Spa. While this is a private club within the Koolani, the discount in membership and monthly dues to Koolani Residents is substantial! The state of the art equipment and facilities is top notch. Classes go on in both of the separate classrooms all day.
Some units in the Koolani have storage units and they can be very large, up to over 500 square feet!
Nauru Tower condominium is perhaps the most striking example of urban architecture in the Honolulu urban landscape. A single glass tower that is a half cylinder rising over Ala Moana Beach Park. People continually remark on its appearance. This luxury condo has been voted the best condominium in Honolulu, Hawaii several times. The building management take a great deal of pride in serving the residents and making them feel truly at home. The location is outstanding as it is easy to get to anywhere in Honolulu via Ala Moana Blvd. It is also within walking distance to hundreds of shops and restaurants at Ala Moana Center and Ward Center.
The building was completed in 1990. Each floor is roughly divided into 8 units. The penthouse levels have fewer units per floor and are also more spacious. Unit '01 faces towards Honolulu Harbor and the airport. There is some view obstruction from surrounding buildings. This unit also faces towards the mountains. The unit wraps around one end of the cylinder. Then units'02, '03, '04, '05, 06 and '07 face the ocean and over Ala Moana Beach Park. The least obstructed views are the '03, '04 and '05 units. Also, the unit does not have to be very high to have an ocean view. Unit '08 faces Diamond Head. There is still ocean view, but the bedrooms face the mountains. Many residents like this side of the building because it is cooler. The Penthouse levels start on the 33rd floor. However the most supreme penthouses are on the 43rd and 44th floor. These are 3 levels with plenty of outdoor lanai space.
The amenities are on the 7th floor and can be accesses by a glass covered bridge. The pool and barbecue areas are spread out over a park like setting on top of the parking garage. It is wonderfully maintained. Unfortunately there is no fitness room which is something many people really want.
The biggest upside to the Nauru is being in Kakaako and having unobstructed views of the ocean. The down sides may be that the floor plans can be a little awkward and it is a little dated. Some units have been completely remodeled from the original plan. If location is important, this is one of the best spots. Certainly the Nauru Tower is more affordable than the higher end luxury Kakaako condos being built in the area.
PROs: Outstanding ocean views, close to shopping and restaurants. close to the beach
CONs: sometimes awkward floor plans, dated interiors, no fitness room.
