Trump Tower Waikiki units did not sell out afterall

When the Trump Tower Waikiki went up for sale, buyers in Hawaii and in Japan seemed to be jumping at the chance to own what was thought to be a new landmark in Waikiki.  There appeared to be such high demand for the 469 units when they went under contract in a single day.  In October 2009, the units were all supposed to have closed and be conveyed to the new owners.  Even though the reports were that this was a record setting sale for the Trump organization, that claim may not be entirely true.  Nearly a quarter of the units failed to close and Buyers walked away from deposits and cancelled contracts to get out of purchasing the units.  Now Irongate is left with the task of unloading the last 100 or so units that have not sold.

In addition to the 100 units that Irongate still has to sell, nearly 10 percent of the units in the building that did sell are being actively marketed.  This makes a full 30% of the units in the building for sale.

I suspect that Irongate will be forced to offer their units at a significantly reduced rate in order to get these units sold.  If you are interested in learning more about the Trump Tower Waikiki contact Malia L. Meenderman, R, our principal broker.
