Honolulu ranked very high on a study on air pollution by the American Lung Association.  Honolulu ranked third behind  number 1 :Cheyenne, Wyo., and number 2: Santa Fe-Espanola, N.M .  The 2010 study looked at certain fine particulate matter over a 24 hour period and took the year’s average.
