Merriman’s restaurant at the Anaha in Kakaako’s Ward Village opens

Merriman’s restaurant has opened on the ground floor of the Anaha condo in Kakaako’s Ward Village. The farm to table restaurant by Peter Merriman has been much-anticipated in the Kakaako community. The styling is a french-bistro with focus on Hawaii Regional Cuisine. Each dish at Merriman’s is crafted using local ingredients from the Hawaiian islands, and the atmosphere is considered laid-back and not too pretentious.

For example, they have created French-inspired dishes like Maui Onion soup and Kualoa-ranch oysters with a touch of Kiawe smoke. Then there are also favorite local dishes with a new twist such as wok charred ahi sashimi or kalua pig quesadilla.

This 200-seat restaurant in 7800 square feet of space on the ground floor of the Anaha condo is very convenient for everyone living and working around Ward Village. In fact, Anaha condo owners received an exclusive preview of the restaurant before the opening as a test run presided over executive chef Jon Matsubara

This is the 4th Hawaii regional cuisine restaurant by Peter Merriam, yet it has a unique menu. Despite this being the fifth Merriman’s in Hawaii, it is the only one on Oahu. The other restaurants created under Peter Merriman are Moku in Kakaako and Monkeypod Kitchen.

Peter Merriman is one of the local pioneers for developing Hawaii regional cuisine using local ingredients. He has worked with local farmers in Hawaii to encourage a variety of produce to help build his unique menus.
