Luxury Kailua Beach home for sale on Kaapuni drive

Growing up in Kailua, I have so many fond memories of Kailua Beach. There were countless hours as a little girl swimming and playing in the waves.  Outrigger canoe practice nearly every day in the bay when I was a teenage were some fun times. Even now walking along the beach is one of my favorite things to do. I love to see the ever changing beach including where it is wide and where it is narrow all the while meeting neighbors or friends along the way. After showing and selling Kailua beachfront homes, I pay attention about where on the beach is the nicest point to live. I prefer areas that have a wider beach which would remain even when the winter storms claim big chunks of sand.

Kailua is a great small town on the windward side of Oahu. The beach is perhaps one of the loveliest beaches in Hawaii and a great place for families to picnic. It is also a great spot for so many different sports including kite surfing, kayaking and sailing. There are many popular neighborhoods in this town. The two that are closest to the beach are Lanikai and Beachside. Beachside is a long narrow neighborhood with Kalaheo Avenue on one side and the beach on the other. Beashside is is also the neighborhood that President Obama and his family come to stay in at Christmas time. There is lots of shopping and restaurants in this little town. Downtown Honolulu is only 30 minutes away and so is the Honolulu International Airport.

One of my favorite sections of Kailua beach is along Kaapuni Drive. It is a well cared for private street off of North Kalaheo Avenue. The soft powdery sandy beach is relatively wide throughout the year. There is also gentle surf along this stretch of the beach.  It is a wonderful spot to live.  The home at 28 Kaapuni was completed in 2011 and was designed by famed local architect, Peter Vincent.  His designs are very popular in Hawaii.  He makes great work out of marrying the indoor with the outdoors. He also does not miss the opportunity of a good view. This 4 bedroom, 6 bath home is so well crafted.  When you are enjoying the privacy of the pool, you are still able to look through house outside to the ocean! This has a definite rest feel including living spaces with high peaked ceilings, extensive use of stained wood throughout and even a lovely outdoor shower.
